...hot cars. Because suck it, haters.

Does anyone else see simularities?
Or am I the only one...

They are forecasting 300,000 global units for 2014? Dayum. I think that's a bit optimistic, but its still pretty interesting. I used to be a hater, then I spent a week in one and they really impressed me.

They have tail lights and are small SUVs, so they look a bit similar. I can see what you're saying, but it's only the look of the hatch that is similar.

There both small SUVs, like this one.

I saw a new Jeep and actually thought it was the Kia at a quick glance.
I don't like the styling of the new Jeep. But obviously some people do with how many I see now

I'm starting to see more of these on the road, and while I'm not thrilled with the front end, I think they do look much better in the flesh.

The rears though on a quick glance look fairly alike. The Rav 4 is its own little thing.

The styling has grown on me considerably. There is a decent chance that my wife and I will be buying a CUV-type car in the next year or so, and the Cherokee is definitely one of the cars that I plan on checking out.

its actually way more hatchback than i looks in pictures, its very sloped and intrudes into the cargo area pretty severely.

Yep cuz my car is Uniqueeek.

I posted a little while back that I drove behind one for a while without being able to figure out what it was and just assuming it was a KIA.
Then I realized it was the Cherokee...and a Trailhawk at that.

They have an available fwd - part time 4x4 transfer case, which answers I question I've asked for years.

So thankfully it isn't just me

um...sort of. Its not fwd/part time its more a decoupled full time system. There is no control as to when the system is operating in FWD, but you can lock in 4wd. Most of the time, yes, it is in FWD though.

I think they are pretty perfect.
They will spend the most of their time on-road, but you can also hit the dirt for a fun MILD trail, which is all the amateur off-roader should be on anyhow most likely.

Now we understand why FIAT fought so hard to buy Chrysler: because the USA market is the best market in the world: even in the worst moments of crisis, there will always be enough customers ready to buy their cars. I only hope that the FIAT and Alfa brands will not be marginalized, but it is a pious hope.

I am happy it is selling but I have to repress a strong urge to vomit every time I see the front end. In my opinion it has a face only a mother could love.

There's 3 different 4wd variations, because of course Jeep has to be confusing and have 3 different versions.
Active-Drive I - most basic, it's like an awd car with different traction control modes like snow, sand/mud & sport. In full auto mode it will disconnect the rear axle to save gas. The other modes keep the rear axle engaged and vary the torque split (Snow is 60/40 F/R, Sport is 40/60 F/R).
Active-Drive II - adds 4wd low range and a "Rock" traction control mode
Active-Drive Lock - adds a rear locker (comes on the Trailhawk which has a 1" suspension lift, tow hooks, etc.)
I'm no serious off-roader, but I bet the Trailhawk would be pretty awesome for Wisconsin winters that I'm currently assaulting with my '99 Grand Cherokee.

I'm actually quite familiar with these system, having talked to one of the integration engineers for some time about them....as a reference Active Drive II doesn't have "rock"...but you are mostly right, its a full axle disconnect but you can't force FWD in any case.
In terms of the trailshawks off road cred? its better than it has right to be, its very good.

Uggs sell pretty well too, and those are just as fugly.

my neighbor picked one of these up, i know looks are subjective, but its ugly

True. I had one as a rental for a week, it's actually not a bad car. It was comfortable, roomy, got decent enough gas mileage (2.4l FWD), and drove like a fat car, that is to say better than a typical SUV but worse than a hatchback.

I refuse to suck it because to me, the Cherokee must have straight axles. Lift kits for independent suspensions are a nightmare.

The design has grown on me. I'll be interested to see what way they go with the SRT version.

Girlfriend: It looks like that think in my neighborhood you are always talking about!
Me: The Isuzu VehiCross...omg you're right
Me: Are you trying to seduce me?

You know what? I thought the same thing the other day in the Walmart parking lot duing the night... from a distance, the taillights have a similar shape
